Find out the answers to all your Broadway musical questions and more with this monthly musical improv show!

First Friday of every month at the Magnet Theater

Opera / Immersive: The Mile Long Opera

“We didn’t realize just how phenomenally important this would be,” she added, gesturing at the High Line. It will be the site of “The Mile-Long Opera: a biography of 7 o’clock,” a large-scale performance work, created by Ms. Diller and the composer David Lang, with text by Anne Carson and Claudia Rankine, which runs Oct. 3-8 with a cast of 1,000 singers spread across the length of the elevated park."

An immersive, operatic, large-scale project, it was a pleasure being a singer involved with this!

INTERACTIVE SIMULIFE

The Verge has written an article on the Deep Dive Austin Team!

Taking a glimpse behind the curtain over their work, their message, and their future as leaders in interactive and immersive work; The Verge discusses with them their most recent success OpenMind at SXSW Austin and the Deep Dive's next steps.

"In the world of immersive entertainment, high-end activations like HBO’s sprawling, real-world re-creation of Westworld or Disney’s upcoming Star Wars expansion lands get most of the attention. But at this year’s South by Southwest, one of the most exciting and forward-thinking pieces of immersive work wasn’t there to promote a movie or TV show. It was an interactive story experience called OpenMind, which played out in hotel rooms, office buildings, and public locations across Austin, Texas, over a period of four days."

                   - Bryan Bishop, The Verge

INTERACTIVE SIMULIFE

Open Mind: Deep Dive Austin

In March, I worked with the incredible Deep Dive Austin (in collaboration with Meow Wolf) to create a four day long narrative that pushes the limits on what immersive and interactive story-telling can be.

For four days during SXSW, we took two participants on a narrative journey where real life blended with intricate storytelling.

One of those participants, Bryan Bishop, is a journalist for The Verge. He chronicled his experience through a series of articles. Please read the articles he wrote, they will do a far better job of detailing his time during those four days. See link below.

As an artist I will always follow work that matters and can make some sort of impact, push limits, and take chances.

I'm so grateful I was able to be a part of this. I left the experience a different artist than I was when it began.

Thank you to Deep Dive Austin, Meow Wolf, the incredible town of Austin, and our two wonderful specs for participating in the experience.

Review from StageBuddy:

"...The performance of Dracula currently playing at the Morris-Jumel Mansion (directed by Vincent Carbone, script by Steven Dietz) takes its cue from this quality of Stoker's classic novel. Unlike most vampire flicks, this production features absolutely no visible blood and gore. Instead, it relies on atmospherics and a tight character focus to recreate the sense of Gothic horror inherent in Dracula. In a way, it's a daring approach; but because of this production's perfect casting and strongly present setting, Carbone's take works beautifully."
